Music Program

Hello! My name is Lindsay Wadleigh, and I am the general music teacher at White River School! I graduated from the University of New Hampshire, where I majored in Music Education and studied voice. Although I enjoy teaching students of all ages, elementary school is where my true passion lies. I am very excited to be sharing my love of music with the students of White River School!

In music class, students will be learning about all aspects of music, as well as connecting it to other subjects such as art, history, science, math, and language arts. Students in each grade will be exploring and developing their vocal tone and learning to play different classroom instruments, for example xylophones, drums, and recorders.

The primary students will be focusing on steady beat, fast and slow, quiet and loud, rhythm, improvisation, and expression. They will be exposed to a variety of music styles and types in order to grow their understanding and ability. Upper level students will be studying composers from different time periods, ensemble playing, rounds, improvisation, composition, and music theory. They will be using the musical foundation they formed in earlier years to further create, experience, and express themselves through music.

All students will participate in both a winter and spring concert. These will be both band and chorus concerts. I hope to see you all there!
