On Saturday, May 31st there will be a coin drop fundraiser sponsored by the American Legion Post 84 to support the RIF program at WRS.   The coin drop will be held from 10-2 between Veremedy and and Hartford Pizza on Route 5.  

 

The kind legionnaires heard that our beloved RIF program is in jeopardy due to federal funding cuts.  In fact, we lost all federal funding to support the RIF program.  The RIF program at WRS is coordinated by Mrs. Haynes, librarian and Mr. Burriss, Title I teacher.   Over the years we've been able to provide "forever" books four times annually. These are top quality books that your child gets to select and keep forever, hopefully sharing with a younger sibling or friend after it has been read a couple of times.  This program is very important to our WRS students.  Here's how you can help:

 

• volunteer for an hour or two on Saturday. (You can call me in advance, or just show up)
• look under your sofa and under your car seat for coins and drop them off between 10:00 and 2:00.
• tell your friends and family to be sure to bring their loose change and drop it off
