Guess Jumbo's weight!
Mr. Wetmore, WRS special educator, grew pumpkins over the summer and donated one to WRS that he named "Jumbo". Our students were asked to estimate the weight of Jumbo the Pumpkin. We had a smaller pumpkin that weighs 18 pounds which gave our students a bit of guidance in estimating Jumbo's weight. We had some interesting estimates from kindergarten with one of them estimating more than 3 million pounds! Our 3rd-5th graders used some impressive logic to come up with their estimates and many of them were very, very close! Only one student, a fourth grader, guessed the exact weight of Jumbo which is 88 pounds! His family took the very heavy pumpkin home. Hmmm, I wonder if they'll make pumpkin pie??
