Notes about our trip to Boston
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Here are notes about our trip to Boston, MA on Friday, May 24th:
K-2 Students – New England Aquarium
Grade 3 & 4 – Museum of Science
Grade 5 - Walking Tour of Historical Sites (rain or shine)
- Everyone is excited about our trip, but it is very important that if a child doesn’t feel well, he/she needs to stay home. Being sick and away from home makes for a very long day for an unwell child.
- We plan to leave promptly at 8:30 and the school will be closed. Please, Please, Please make sure your child is on time. We expect to return between 5:30 and 6:00, depending on traffic.
- Students must bring a cold lunch to eat on the way to Boston with them. Please do not send soda, candy or any glass containers.
- The bus company is not responsible for any items left on the bus during the day. We have found that it is best if students do not have any items to carry and keep track of during the day. Do not allow your child to bring technology devices. We will show movies on the bus.
- Students need comfortable clothes and walking shoes – like they would wear to gym class. They do not need money; there will not be any opportunity to shop. Our 5th graders should monitor the weather forecast and bring a raincoat if necessary.
- The Premier Coach Company buses will circle behind the school and park on the playground when we return. Please keep Pine Street open for our return.
- If your child needs travel sickness meds please give it to them in the morning before you drop them off. If they need it before the return trip back to WRJ you will need to provide Mrs. Hutchins with the medication in a properly labeled container and sign a permission form by May 13th. If your child requires medication after school between 3:00 and 6:30 you must contact Jeanette Hutchins by May 13th. School nurses and other approved staff will ensure that medications are administered as directed. If your child requires medication on a routine basis during the school day, the medications will be dispensed as normal. WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE LAST MINUTE REQUESTS FOR DISPENSING MEDICATION.
- Please keep Pine Street open for our return around 5:30. You MUST PICK UP YOUR CHILD AND YOU MUST SPEAK TO YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER BEFORE LEAVING SO THAT HE/SHE KNOWS THAT YOUR CHILD LEFT WITH A DESIGNATED ADULT. Send notes by May 13th if you are sending someone else to pick up your child.
- Breakfast will not be served on Friday. Students must eat at home.
Thank you for your assistance, we are all quite excited and looking forward to our trip!
Sincerely,
Sheila C. Powers
