Our good friends from American Legion Post 84 visited our school on Thursday. These fine veterans told our students which branch of the military they served in and discussed the history of Memorial Day. We want our students to know and understand why we have Monday off.  Our students, even our youngest students appeared to be very curious and interested in their stories and I was so proud of our students for their polite engagement during our ceremony.

Over the years these wonderful citizens organized a coin drop fundraiser for our school which raised about $1,000 annually. These funds were applied to our Reading Is Fundamental (R.I.F.) program.
