Kinsa FLUency

This year the Hartford School District schools will be participating in the Kinsa FLUency program.  This program allows you to download a free app to your smartphone through which you can track your child's temperature and any symptoms and it will also allow us to anonymously monitor the spread of illness in our school.  When you download the app, you are able to order a free smart thermometer to work with the program.  If you have more than one child in different schools, you can manage them all through the app but will only be able to order one thermometer.  Please read this flyer for more information and details on getting started!  Participating in this program is a way to facilitate the required daily screening prior to sending your child to school but does not change the exclusion/return processes currently in place nor does it remove the need to communicate with the school nurse when your child is ill!

The expectation since the beginning of the school year has been that students are getting the screening questions done at home and having their temperature checked before coming to school.  We are also checking students' temperatures upon arrival at school and will continue to do this unless/until the guidance from the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education changes.  The Kinsa program will not impact any of our current processes.

If you do not have a smartphone, the nurses have ordered thermometers to provide to you.  Right now, we have a very limited supply but expect the rest of our order to be delivered within the next couple of weeks.  If you are in need of a thermometer, please let your school nurse know and one will be provided to you.

This year, it is more important than ever for people to get their annual flu shots. Here is a link to some options in our area:  https://uvstrong.org/upper- valley-flu-clinics-fall-2020/
